If there is anyone who is remotely interested in learning about WHY some people are homosexual, bisexual, transgendered, etc. and some not, I would invite you to read the manuscript I wrote regarding my full-blown near death experience back in 1981. It covers many other things as well. It certainly changed the way I look at life these days, and it will certainly give the reader much to think about. It's entitled, "And What Will You Do With The Truth?"

Although I know an apology doesnt make up for how youve been treated by various conservatives and people of faith, I want to say I'm sorry. Not because I've been one of the bpeople who have ridiculed you but because Im sorry that people use their faith as an excuse for ignorance. Honestly, I am a Christian, I believe in a God and a Son that believe in unconditional love. And if anyone has treated you the opposite of that, it saddens me that they title their cruelty in the name of God. My Uncle was gay, he died from AIDS over ten years ago. His lifestyle was different than the lifestyle my parents or I choose to live, but I loved him. He was a hero to me, he showed me things about appreciation of life that I will never forget. I am sorry that biggotry exists, Im sad that phobias dealing with real human beings are still embedded in parts of the American society. I just want to say that as a believer in God I want to follow the truth that you and everyone else on this earth matters and should be treated as such. So Im sorry that other people are biggots or treat you like dirt. Its not right and I hope you can see that the love that Christ teaches isn't in the words they say to you. If I had a chance to talk to Pastor Barnes personally, he'd be on a different level or singing a different tune pretty fast. Many churches teach that just having homosexual tendencies is a sin, At least that is the way I understand it. To me, there is a difference between just being gay and committing "gay acts" or gay immoral acts or whatever you call it. There is such a thing as a celebete gay. If this thing about being gay is really bothering him even if he hasn't committed any acts, I'd tell him quite fast. I consider intolerance a real sin, putting down a person for something he has absolutely no control.

As an openly gay man in rural Georgia, I have my share of adversity. My partners entire family are right-wing fundies with God sitting on one shoulder and Trent Lott on the other. As Ted Haggard and fundies fall from grace, I have a smile on my face! Do I welcome them into the gay community? HELL NO! For have they acomplished anything positive for a single gay person (snorting meth isn't a positive) NO, they haven't! They would deny us our basic humanity by shouting the loudest---so PISS on the Haggards of this world! My sexuality is NOT a choice! I'm neither less masculine than the next guy, nor am I more special than a heterosexual. Sexuality is just that.

It makes me sad when religious wack-jobs get on their thrown of judgement and pretend to by the sky-God! They condemn everything as if they had only slid out of their mothers womb yesterday. Knowing full well that they can't keep a biblical lifestyle--it's impossible! They sin, every moment they breathe! So, to judge my sexuality only infuriates me and hopefully the rest of the gay community. However, I have to admit, the days of ACT-UP (a once powerful gay lobbying & activist organization) are over, and replaced are a bunch of self hating homo's who disgrace the community with the loss of a affirmed and structured voice. I miss Act-Up! So, until we band as a community and FIGHT this religious ignorance which is the Bush Administration and his love for Je$u$ ignorance, the gay community and all of America continues to slide back into the womb (smirk).

The church always catches up with the "world," even if centuries later.

I've always know that eventually, they would have to find room in their "biblical" faith for gays.

What I didn't know was that Christians would have to become tolerant to the lifestyle because THEY ARE RUNNING OUT OF STRAIGHT PASTORS.

Hey Twincat I do have the answer to your question. One of those fucktards(Fred Phelps's Son Tim) was on an atheist talk radio show I listened to, and someone asked him a question just like that. I believed it involved eating seafood being an abomination. He stated that the moral laws of the OT stand while the traditional laws don't. That is how they get around those little inconsistancies.

He tried every cure religious and other until he finally accepted who he was, then came the big move to San Francisco where he could be who he was.

It is unfortunate that this man, like Haggard, will probably spend fruitless (no pun intended) hours getting "counseling" to rid him of his "immorality". I have a gay brother. He knew he was gay at age 11. This guy says he knew at age 5. Can anyone seriously argue that CHILDREN are making life decisions about their sexual orientation? Come on folks! This is a dead give-away that sexual orientation is a function of the brain.
I know I never had a moment in my childhood where I thought "you know, I've got choices here. I can be gay or straight. I wonder what I should do?"
And no one else does that either.

Lets not beat gay people down, after all, their brains are wired that way and they can't change who they are.
Lets remember that Jesus himself was probably gay due to having many people that he 'loved' and just hanging out with men.
