It's more difficult to control people if you can't hook into their emotions and their sex drives.

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

mcgill101,
I so wanted to read what you wrote, but my eyes can't handle reading "walls of text" anymore.

You may want to consider sparing our eyeballs in your next post, okay?

ATF

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

On the masturbation subject itself, I am awfully suprised how much most christians are willing to take the golden goose and cut of its head
Here is a good way to prevent teenage sex, give them a option to be able to relive desire, without the need for someone else. You get no stds, no pregancies. Yet they say masturbation is a sin, and sex before marriage is a sin
My question is "Really what do you want me to do?"
To me it is insane to say "okay, you have all these sexual desires, that are not bad, but you can't act on them" One it is a contradiction in terms, two how the hell are people supposed to deal with things like that.
I think Christians of all stripe would be better of regardless if they are religious or not if they got there heads out of there ass,and thought maybe instead of asking how to live, asking why to live. Why is it that religion flys in the face of psychology, and the massive accumaltion of knowledge in regards to sexual health. And instead of settling for the answer the bible says so and leaving it at that. Ask why does the bible say that. Maybe its based in culture. I have found that in the study of ancient culture that diffusion(the nice pretty anthroplogical terms for the introduction of new conpets) doesn't work so well if the culture be exposed is happy with what they got, or the concepts just don't work for them and what they understand. It is one of the reasons that Christians got converts the ethics and moriality described in the bible fit the time. For example, here is why the bible doesn't say anything directly about masturbation. everybody and the mother was married at the earliest around 12 to 14, so by the time that puberty kicked in the guys and girls could get as much action as they could. Mastuburation was a silly point to address. Also it is better to marry then burn with sexual desire. Well the same applies, they could easlily and most often did get married aroudn 12-14, so marriage wasn't a outthere option for them unlike youth today. Also marriage was typically a thing of convenience, because often expecially amoung the rich it dealt with property.
It just two of the many example of ethics of the bible that don't work unless we all decide to start wiping are asses with leaves. It is kindoff odd for a allknowing God to use that kind of planning. to endorse ethics that are culturally and temporally easy to follow yet can't be done nowadays

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

To the Christians on here, who feel they need to remain Christian, read James Dobson, he is a psychologist that is also a Christian and he says that its okay to masturbate, just try not to break Matthew 5:28. Maybe a contradiction in terms but it is better than nothing to at least try
To the same. you belive that Christianity is true right, ever heard of armenism, it is a interpretation of what people call predestination. IT is where people can lose there salvation
So whos right, and also here is how to become a ex-christian, stop beliving. Kept in the fold via the holy spirit right. How many people here when they were christians belived that they have had encounters with the holy spirit. Not a good way to keep people in the fold. Maybe the Holy Spirit could actually do what it was said to do in John about being a guide and whatnot. there would defintily be less de-converts. There would be less people finding fault in the christian concept of free will and the "arm twisting relationship" with Christ. Hell or relationship, how is that a relationship. I am a firm beliver in it works for ya fine. But you don't have a right to tell me how to think and feel.
Relgion and sexual repression and ignorance can be synonyms for each other
also have you ever christians done any study into the life of christians as a whole group like a country
My study has told me the following
There is a two-four percent higher chance of divorce amoung christian then atheists and agnostic (probably got something to do with how "God" wants marraige to be)
I personall can vouch for my Christian family in regards to this, everybody in my immediate family except one man has been divorced. that one man has a dead marriage in a every since. Yet divorce is a sin unless the cause is infidelity
I can't remeber the numbers this one but
Evangelical Christian raised children have a way larger chance of getting Std's or getting pregnant. That is probably do to the intense indoctrination against such things, (people are naturelly attracted to things they can't have)
The subjection of women in marriage has probably also got something to do with that divorce rate
Like I always say take away God from the morailty of the bible you get immorality or at elast morality that worked for people that wiped there asses with leaves. That alone is cause for question in my opinion.
You decide
I haven't really thought about this one much but I recently just read that there is actually been a study done that found that the more religious someone is the less there IQ is.
I am inclined to belive that to be true, because the most unquestioning, and oftentimes(though it is not exactly any fault of them) are ingnorant to science and history. One my not be able to disprove the resurrection(which being historically provable is a debate in its own right, much less debate on if it has been proven by history in general) but there are many other details like the exodus story which do cast a shadow over the creidibilty of the bible. Gary HAbermas once said that even if the whole bible is false the ressurrection is history proven
I doubt that because of the simply fact that if important detail that are not the resurrection are untrue then it takes the piss out of the gospels because of the claims of Jesus. It also takes the piss out of the doctrine of innerrancy. Which if not true leaves every single sentence up to dispute.

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

BP,
On the contrary, make sure the condom doesn't have a hole in it.

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

Yes, I saw something about that on the History Channel. Those doctors became very popular and acquired more patients than they could handle (literally), so to avoid straining their hands, an electrical apparatus was invented for the task in the late 1800s — the predecessor of modern vibrators. Of course, at the time, it was referred to as a medical device and if anyone thought of it in sexual terms, shame on them!

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

One thing I found fascinating is that during the Victorian era, women who felt a lot of pent-up sexual urges were diagnosed with a condition called Hysteria. These women would seek medical attention from a doctor, who would massage her clitoris until she experience a release known as a "paroxysm" (really, an orgasm). It just blows my mind that doctors would masturbate women under the guise of medical treatment just to avoid the notion that they were somehow "sinning". They had to know what was really going on, didn't they?

Re: Is Masturbation Wrong? - ExChristian.Net - Articles

Zeath,
Yes, do come back. Maybe we have been misjudging all the sexual exploits of the televangelists. It is possible that all along, they have been participating in experiments and proving trials for nano-evangelists, delivered in semen, guarded by "soldier sperm" which have received god's blessing and call to be a holy delivery system for these nano-evangelists.

Could be the reason why the Pope and DirtyWaters, our recent troll, refuse to encourage the use of condoms.

These foetuses don't touch their genitals all the time though, so they are only guilty of Onanoffism?
