masterbation is normal. get over it! i would not be surprised if other animals masterbated! i really wouldnt! and god never said anything about it, so lets not assume that it is wrong. adam probably masterbated, probably to a point where god was made sick and decided to create a sex object for him, because who wants to watch the same porn over and over again?
  • rasputinslovechild · 5 months ago
    sunnykill,
    that was awesome!
You are correct about animals. I once owned a pygmy billy goat we affectionately named Timothy Leary (another story).
Once this goat reached puberty he would chase anyone and everyone around attempting to do the ole leg hump.
Sometimes he would look at me with those weird rectangular pupils and I could see the lust in his eyes.
He would put his front legs on the fence as he became physically aroused and would, well, I think you know. If you didn't get a good twenty feet away you were his target!
    He didn't even need hands!
I hope this wasn't too disgusting.
I guess some stories are better left untold. Sorry.
  • sunnykill · 5 months ago
yea ive seen dogs cats do that. i think i saw a turtle as well. as long as animals and people are sexual deities they will masterbate. although i dont belief in a god,i doubt he cares if men masterbate, after all women are impure!

Just go to the zoo and watch the primates. You will see both sexes playing with their genitalia.

Just don't watch for too long - you may be arrested.
  • peter · 2 months ago
David, for some obscure reason, the Bonobos are my favourite primates.... ;)

Apparently, even unborn children fondle their genitals in the womb....:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jx0dTYUO5E

(or maybe this just proves the concept of original sin, where not even fetuses are innocent anymore of lust; but I wonder what they're thinking of? That cute fetus in the other lady in the gynaecologist's waiting room?)

Peter. (<-- as confused as a baby in a topless bar)
  • glebealyth · 2 months ago
    Careful now.

Once the word is out that foetuses play with their genitals, there will arise a fungigenital charity whose missionary call is to preach the word to the unborn so that they might be reborn before they are born.

They would have to develop very small messengers to carry the word. Maybe we have been misjudging all the sexual exploits of the televangelists. It is possible that all along, they have been participating in experiments and proving trials for nano-evangelists, delivered in semen, guarded by "soldier sperm" which have received god's blessing and call to be a holy delivery system for these nano-evangelists.

Could be the reason why the Pope and DirtyWaters, our recent troll, refuse to encourage the use of condoms.

These foetuses don't touch their genitals all the time though, so they are only guilty of Onanoffism? (Applies to us all, I suppose)

    Peace,

    David

glebealyth:Once the word is out that [fetuses] play with their genitals..

Well David, a light just came on in me, when you wrote this line.

I always wondered what the specifics were for this thing the Catholic Church calls "Original Sin"; that we are evidently BORN with.

I had NO idea that this was a result of Prenatal Masturbation.

    Who Knew !!

Masturbation is clearly a sin against god....

Unless of course you say 3 Hail Mary's, 2 Our Father's, and put $20 in the collection plate. Then it's okay to do it all you want <g>

  • buffettphan · 5 months ago
Those Hail Mary's only let the catholics off the hook. Others might have to slip an extra five bucks into that collection plate. ;-)

no its not! it cost a thousand dollars, two virgins, 500 forskins of men, several hundred slain pagans, a wonderious male sheep sacrifice with cannabal blood wine, and bread made of human flesh to do what you want! and i think its five hail marys. yea catholics repetive prayers isnt against gods laws. ( i added that in because catholics never read the bible and if they did they realize that the churches are fucked in the head and do not follow their own rules

If God manufactured us to have sexual urges toward another person, then why do I have sexual urges that do not include sex? When I masturbate, I do it because it feels good, not because I'm lonely. I have no desire for sex with anybody - man or woman - nor have I ever. I have been masturbating since a very young age and I must say I find it is probably the very best thing one could ever do. Forget finding a partner. That's a waste of time. Why should I waste my time courting a partner when I could just go in my bedroom and solo? Besides, even if I DID, I would NOT enjoy sex with ANYONE, not one bit, not AT ALL. I would HATE IT. Yes, I'm asexual. Yes, I masturbate. Yes, I'm proud.
MASTURBATION IS PERFECTLY OKAY. DO IT.
    GOD IS WRONG.

" Jesus loves you and is ready for you to accept him as your Lord and Savior!"

Thanks but you know who also loves you? Yep you guessed it He-man. Christ might be lord of heaven and earth, but He-man is the master of the fucking Universe. And when your father who happens to be a preacher, is trying to molest you at night do you want an anerexic Jew who nows how to build a coffe table or nice book case there to fend off your over sexed Jesus believing father. Or do you want a Barbian God crashing through your window to put a broad sword in that child raping jesus lovers ass. I know which I would pick. Jesus says if you pray to the father than he will answer your prayer. He-man doesn't need a mediator why all he needs to do is raise his sword toward the sky ( you know warning God if you fuck any of this up for me I'll kill you you stupid worthless piece of shit) and says "I have the power" not talk to my daddy and he might help if he isn't in a drunkin orgie right now. No He-mans like I got this shit now lets kick some ass.

All praise the master of the universe.

I told my 3 sons,...each around 8 or nine about touching their own penises to be a healthy thing. Also if they want masterbate to do it in the shower not in public wiew(they have a baby sister).O how i wished my dad have done the same ,..that is to teach me that this not only normal ,but healthy.I wonder how many sex offenders out there were shamed sexually by ther puranical fundie parents????????????
  • Anonymous · 3 years ago
I'm in my 50's and I first found the pleasure I could get from my penis and scrotal area when I was about 6 or 7 years old. Even at that young age, it didn't take me long to find out that I could enjoy a body shaking experience that would give me a wonderful feeling from head to toe if I rubbed myself just right and long enough. I still enjoy masturbating in bed at night. As much now as I did when I was a little boy.

I've heard many guys say they didn't start masturbating until their teen years. What a shame they didn't know earlier. In the past, it was taboo to discuss, but maybe in today's world, that kind of personal information can be safely passed on so that it can be enjoyed early, like I did.

One advantage of doing it back then was all the pleasures and no mess to clean up afterwards.

  • religionkills · 3 years ago
Why would ANY god create humans to act like humans and then get pissed that they act like humans? Sex is a normal natural function of everything on this planet that moves and breathes! Whether it produces asexually, (sounds like major masturbation to me!), or has a partner. You damned crispies bitch about people having sex "outside of marriage", and scream how that is supposed to be a sin...so how the hell is a person supposed to relieve that deep down ache? Grovel to an indifferent god? Riiiiggghhhht. Unlike my mother, I taught my kids about sex as soon as they were old enough to start asking the questions..certainly didn't lie to them and tell the some bullshit like, "I found you in a cabbage patch", the ol' stand by of the stork business. That's LYING..you jerks. Both my boys are teen-agers
now, and I tell them that if they are planning on gettin' "laid", then use a "scrote coat" and don't be making no babies before they are ready for that kind of responsibility. Also, that using one of those head hats will protect them form any nasty communicable diseases that could completely end their sex life...or their life period. Dobson and his fellow crispies are so full of shit their eyes are brown. Sex is NORMAL! Masterbation is NORMAL! Get over the crispie bullshit and I guarantee you'll realize guilt is a useless emotion. It's not the same thing as being remorseful for a real wrong one may have done...like killing the neighbor's pet on purpose or something. SO have fun! Diddle! Wack off! And, ENJOY IT!

Does one gain more energy if they do not masterbate for a while? Wondering if anyone out there has gone 2 weeks or more w/o masterbating. I heard the urge is no longer present after a week. Wondering if this is true.
  • Ninn · 1 month ago
Well, when I masturbate for a week or so afterward there is a deep pain on the right side of my lower stomach, so i usually wait a while before doing it again so as to not make it worse.
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
I don't know what you mean by energy, but it is definitely more pleasurable to do it after having abstained for a while (like a week or so.)
I've actually gone a couple months without masturbating (currently going a month without, on a bet I made with some friends) and I can tell you that the urge never totally goes away. It's easier to ignore if you're busy with other things or if you still get wet dreams, but it's pretty much always there in the back of your head.
In my experience with it, anyway.

Hi, Im 46 years old and i've been materbating since kindergarden. Masterbation helped me to relieve the stress of growing up in a very disfunctional family. Masterbation helped me be respectfull of young ladys when i was dating in high school. I wasn't always tring to put the moves on them because wasn't as horney after masterbating. And if things did get hot and steamy on a date, I didn't have to pressure the young lady for sex, cause I could allways go home and Masterbate. When I finaly got married my wife and I enjoyed making love and mutual Masterbation often together. After she had our children and she became tired at times from tending to the children, she wasn't always in the mood or had the energy to make love as often as we had in the beginning. Masterbation alloud me to give her the time to rest up while i took care of my needs on my oun. Our relationship continued on its happy way. Masterbation also helped her to think of me when I had to be out of toun, and it helped me to be faithfull. Materbating didn't cause me to be a pervert or pedophile or be hooked on pornography or any other sexualy negative type person. What it did do is help me to cope with life in a positive way. My wife and I still enjoy Masterbating eather together or by our selves. If more young people or people in general Masterbated instead of stead of having premarrital sex or extramarrital affairs, there would be less teen pregnencys, less unwanted children or chilren not being able to be taken care of , less broken relationships and people with long lasting emotional scares. And as far as the religious thing is conserned, I think GOd gives a divine release through Masterbation so we as humans dont go crazy under the pressures of life.

MASTERBATION IS A SIN BECAUSE WHEN YOU DO IT YOU ARE LUSTING. THAT'S WHY IT'S BETTER TO GET MARRIED IF YOU CANT CONTROL YOURSELF OR ASK GOD TO CORRECT YOUR MINDS. READ, FAST ,AND PRAY( WATCH, PRAY, LEST YOU ENTER IN TEMPATION. THE SPIRIT IS INDEED IS WILLING, BUT THE FLESH IS WEAK. MATTHEW 26:41) YOU ALSO HAVE TO BE HOLY. I DONT THINK YOU WILL MAKE IT TO HEAVEN IF CONTINUE MASTERBATING. BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO FREE FROM SIN. JESUS LOVES YOU
  • Anonymous · 2 years ago
Masturbation itself is not a sin, but lusting is. I don't see how its possible to do one without the other. Your logic is also difficult to understand. You're saying because we can't get diseases from it, then it can't be bad? Can you get diseases from dishonouring your father or mother, stealing, killing, blaspheming, idolizing, coveting, murdering, or any other sin?

So then I leave you with the words of Jesus. Masturbation is a selfish sinful act which is always accompanied by lusting.

"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' "But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. "And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell." (Mat 5:27-31)

Oh, I really have to ask. Did Jesus masturbate? C'mon, now - I am being serious. Does anyone know? Did he jerk off at least ONCE? He is male, right? Born with a penis? Did he ever touch his naughty bits? Did he ever get an erection? Or did it just hang limp all his thirty three years. Inquiring minds want to know... -Wes.

How the hell did you read "Masturbation is a sin" out of that biblical vomit?? My god, how your mind so easily sees what it wants to! Kind of like how I saw a human face in the seagull shit on my windshield last weekend, I guess. Besides - really - a supposed 'god of the universe', like the biblical god is supposed to be - would he really care what I do with my dick?!? -Wes.

Ok I'd like to say that I'm a male married to a female for over 30 years and over I'm over 50 years old and I estimate that I have masturbated over 10,000 times, almost every time while I masturbated I formed an image in my mind of other women and young girls and still do, probably thought of my wife less than 20 times in all. I have thought of women and young girls while masturbating that I have seen either bent over in a dress or in shorts or a bikini from ages 9 years old to 55 years old.

One night when I was about 20 years old, my wife asked her two gorgeous sisters 10 and 12 yrs old to stay over with us and they slept in the guest bedroom, so that morning I woke up about 5:00 AM to go to the bathroom and there they were with the door open across the hallway from the bathroom, sound asleep with nothing on but pantys and small bra on, well what a glorious sight, the memory is still very fresh, well as things began to rise to the occasion, I closed the bathroom door to a slight crack and well yes I indulged in a wonderful, lustful, satisfying, memorable, self-gradification, ahh the joy, the temptation, what a release, the sin? I felt no sin nor guilt and still do not, I would gladly do it again, if I had the chance, that was over 30 years ago and they both are married and have children now in the teens. No one knows this until now.

I have other stories, but I have no regrets about lusting other women and girls, I would never touch one, without their consent, because I would be violating their personal rights and world view.

To the fundies reading this, the only place sin and hell exists is in a book, written by psychotic drug induced goat herders.

Would like to hear others experiences.

I appreciate this discussion about masturbation. My dis-conversion "testimony" has been on this site for over a year. But back in the 1990s I started a website devoted to debunking religious prohibitions against masturbation; that site (no longer under my supervision) continues today as www.solotouch.com. The first posting I put on the website was my lengthy rebuttal of religious objections to masturbation. The piece also includes my personal struggle with Christian attitudes toward self-pleasuring. I encourage anyone interested in exploring this topic of religion and masturbation to read this account which is still on the solotouch website. Go to http://www.solotouch.com/res.php?t=a&num=1 to read the introduction then follow links to go through the entire essay. My suggestion is for everyone to abandon guilt and freely enjoy themselves!

I masturbate but have no thoughts towards others whatsoever. I am just thinking how it fees and whatnot but don't think "I could so be doing so and so right now".

So technically is that against God? I literally don't masturbate towards another person or thing.

    I simply masturbate.

    Right or wrong?

I'm a christian teen and i was completly fine with my body and touching myself until my mother contantly yelled at me and accused me of it. And so i denied it because she would scream at me at the top of her lungs for doing it even thought she origially told me it was a natural thing to do. Then i got angry at her and called her a bitch one night because she barged into my room one night and statrted yelling at me about mastrubating. So she says I must be having ex if i touch myself. And i really am trying to be comfortable with myself agian but it is proving to be difficult.

  • Scholar · 2 years ago
Dear Annonymous from Nov 10 posting and others alike...

I want to congratulate you for your courage and talking about your guilt with others. You are allready well on your way!

The issues you have described here are the result of illogical, untested, and unhealthy beliefs developed in human history that slipped into culture and religion under the guise of unquestioned "knowledge". We now know better but some of that missinformation still lingers in culture and religion, prevending healthy sexuality rather than fostering it. Thus, unfortunatelly, some religious views are doing society a disservice. Obveously, it's done you a disservice.

Please take note that as you begin to own your own sexuality and its development, it is not necessary to drop your spirituality. In fact, your spirituality may grow too, as annonymous age 46 hinted at in describing his wonderful relationship with his wife.

Also, though you didn't say so, it is normal for people to question their orrientation. Many young men have not ended up gay as a result (or there would be many-many more gay men).

For many who have guilt, for whatever reason, about their sexuality, masterbation, and importantly - the thoughts that come to mind while doing so (especially when thoughts and behavior do not fit tidily in the black and white view of heterosexism), it can be a deeply painful and issolating experience.

In response, I would like to suggest that what you are feeling is quite common. I came from a hyperreligious family and I felt guilty about masterbation for years. I got caught once - we never talked about it, and I felt so ashamed I wanted to die. Then I learned to talk about it several years later. Several friends had a parent walk in on them at some point, and laughing about it was a huge relief from thinking I owed it to society to die because of my dirty little secret. As your sexuality matures, your guilt will diminish and pass.

I recommend talking with others, getting education and - as feeling punished by God bespeaks of trauma, get some help. Take a course on human sexuality if you have access too one, and now that you've taken a chance over the internet - talk with your safe peers and family members.

I suggested help because being punished by God clearly indicates you are distressed by some aspect of masterbation or your thoughts at the time. Counselors, including church counselors, will be good as long as they don't try to change your sexuality in some way, such as saying you shouldn't masterbate, or that gay thoughts need to be fixed. A GLBT center either in your area, local university, or over the web might be of assistance. My experience has been that the fear such places will try to "change" you into being gay if you are not is laughable. What you will get is a community that can support you through healing from feeling stigmatized to the point it seems God himself is punishing you.

    Sincerely,
    Scholar.

I feel obliged to attest to the promotion of such a repulsive act of moral degradation irrelevant of its scientific benefits or harms.

I have seen recent scientific conclusions stating that porn could increase men’s life by a few years. Sure, sell your soul to the devil and degrade yourself spiritually and psychologically to gain a couple years in this limited lifetime.

Even if Playing with yourself is deemed to benefit the body, which I doubt, it is the wrong way of satisfying a basic need. A need that god has placed in us for the sole purpose of the continuation of the human race, not for lustful limited satisfaction in ones privacy.

I do not condemn those who choose to be different in their own personal lives, but I do condemn and protest the promotion of these private matters to a broader audience.

  • Astreja · 2 years ago
    What devil, Argooya? What god?

Personally, I'm fine with "lustful limited satisfaction" in private.

And your use of phrases like "repulsive act of moral degradation" and "degrade yourself spiritually and psychologically" say volumes about the way you've chosen to view human sexuality. You would be well advised to seek professional help to deal with the issue.

Funny name for the site..."ExChristian". There neither is nor can be any such thing. Either you believe by grace through faith and are sealed forever by the Holy Spirit, or you were fooling yourself by thinking that if you 'decided' to be a Christian that settled the matter. It doesn't.
  • Jim Arvo · 2 years ago
    Anonymous,

As there appears to be no such thing as a "Holy Spirit", one's religion is most certainly a personal decision and nothing more. Hence, one can decide to be a Christian, and then not.

    Have a nice day.

  • boomSLANG · 2 years ago
If one is able to not believe Christianity, and then at a later time, come to believe it....then surely, one is able to believe Christianity, and at a later time, not believe it. A belief, is a belief, is a belief. Nice try, though, Anony'.
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
Yes it is wrong. If your a Christian you shouldn't do it. In the Lord's eyes if you think about doing anything, then you have done it. Therefore what are you thinking about when you masterbate? Yep, I'm sure we all know. It is sexually immoral. It is pre-marital sex(which is wrong) . God created sex don't you think he would know when you would experience it the best and to its best abilities? And that is in a marriage. Not by yourself, and not in a boyfriend-girlfriend situation. My tip to people that haven't tried it yet is DO NOT TRY IT. It becomes an obsession. And if you don't do it then you don't realize what your missing. :D -Mick
  • Astreja · 1 year ago
Anonymouse, if you want anyone to believe that your god invented sex, you're going to have to first prove that your god exists.

And there is nothing whatsoever wrong with masturbation, fantasizing, *or* pre-marital sex between consenting parties of appropriate ages.

The only thing you got right was the obsession part. Obsession can be extremely damaging to one's mental health.

And that includes obsessing about imaginary invisible super-beings who have Strong Opinions about how we choose to use our quickly-moving parts.

Now go fuck yourself. And I so mean it.

    The comments of the Born-Agains
on this topic are so ironic. These
people are so filled with the guilt and fear of ancient beliefs
    and superstitions. If anyone could
use a good whack-off, its them!

Sure, I'd rather make love to a
    woman, but unless you're married
or in a relationship, that's not
    always possible. And during my
    Christian days, I always prayed
that God would send me that someone
special. And how much help did I
    get?

You guessed it. Nada...Zilch..Bupkis. One of about
    a thousand unanswered prayers.

So, instead of masturbating, perhaps I should just go out and
rape some woman? Would that make
    you Bible-beaters happy? At least
    I won't be touching myself!

    Christians need a severe reality
    check.

I statrted masterbateing not long ago. It wasn't a big deal, I was enjoying what God gave to me. After some time, I started lusting. Masterbation leads to lust and lust is wrong. Now some of you said that you have to be free from sin to be accepted into heaven. No, that's not true. No one is free from sin.Everyone sins, sorry, but it's true. Your job is to aviod temptation, spread the word of God to others, and follow his ways. Jesus died for us so we could have a chance in heaven. If jesus didn't do that, no one would be alowed in, but because he died, as long as we beleive in him, we can be allowed in heaven. Ever read John 3:16 in the bible? that's what it says. I think that masterbating is not a good thing to start to do. You must be a strong human being and aviod temptation.

Damned stupid way to run a celestial paradise, in My opinion. Forever tainting the place with blood.

"Ever read John 3:16 in the bible?"

Yup. Absolutely disgusting. I rejected it many years ago as utter bullcrap. A gift purchased with human sacrifice is not worth having.

"You must be a strong human being and aviod temptation."

Make up your mind, kid... You can't become a strong human being by avoiding problems -- You must confront them.

Perhaps in YOUR case, young anon, you should have taken up spelling as a hobby, rather than masturbation.

Now some of you said that you have to be free from sin to be accepted into heaven. No, that's not true

I don't know what website you think your on, but no member here would suggest such a thing about being "free from sin"

No one is free from sin.Everyone sins, sorry, but it's true

Sorry, I have to disagree with you here on this sin stuff.
I for SURE, DO NOT 'sin'. Never did, in fact.

I might do something 'wrong' from time to time, but I never ever 'sin'.

'Sin' assumes one has done something wrong, based on laws from your god's rule book, aka the bible.
One would first have to assume a 'god' exists, then one has to make another assumption that this god had anything to do with your bible book of myths.

Now, once you learn how to spell properly, then I see no problem with going back to your new found masturbation hobby.
Just try not doing it, while out in public, okay.

For the Virgin Mary to bare a son without fornicating, she needed special semen and just where from did she receive this semen?

Ans: From God, and did he masturbate? Yes he did, is God a sinner? Yes he is. Was Jesus therefore born in sin? Yes he was.

Are God, Jesus and Mary going straight to hell for this? Yes they are.

Anony, anony, anony... One view of lust, suggests it is a person who exhibits uncontrolled urges.

Perhaps, you are not aware of the concept of "moderation". You know, if a person overacts or under-acts in terms of physical behaviors, they are going to threaten their life.

I'll give you an easy example; if you don't drink enough water, you die (dehydration). If you drink too much water, you die (drown).

It's called keeping a balance in one's life, in "all" areas, that provides someone with a healthy life-style.

Now, when is the last time your religious leader sat in the pulpit and discussed how often you should wax bat?

Now just a darn minute here. Based
    on my knowledge and experience,
masturbation is an excellent way to
control lust, not increase it. If
you're male, and that wife or girlfriend isn't around when the
    urge comes upon you, masturbation
relieves that feeling, and you end
up feeling much better, and no one is harmed at all.

Anonymous, it sounds like the church is controlling too many aspects of your life; of course,
that's what its all about, control through fear and guilt. I know, it victimized me enough in my younger days. Now it seems bizarre to me
I let the superstitions and hang-ups of an archaic civilization
    rule my life.

Remember that old saying that points out the advantages of masturbation..You don't have to dress up, you're sure not to disappoint anyone, and you meet a
much better class of people that way!

    Comical role...

Well, just came home a little while ago from the musical; Phantom of the Opera, and while pondering the limits of human creativity, I comically thought of Avenue-Q, and its implications of this thread - between the internet and masturbation.

    Just a thought... enjoy.

A: I'm praying for all of you non-Christians

If "prayer" worked, this site wouldn't exist. Let's be sure, though. Get all four of your Christian friends together, and get on your collective knees and beg your invisible biblegod to amend "His Will", and shut down this website. Let's see what happens.

A: Jesus loves you and is ready for you to accept him as your Lord and Savior!

"Jesus" would have to exist in order for him to be "ready" for something. "Jesus" exists nowhere outside your deluded, fairytale-believing imagination.

A :Jesus died to forgive us of our sins, so that we may have eternal life with Him

If "Jesus" died for everybody, then everybody would get into "heaven". But of course, that's not the case, according to Christian doctrine. Thus, "Jesus died" for Christians, exclusively.

A :All you have to do is believe!

All you have to do is lie to yourself. You are doing a marvelous job of that, BTW.

A : and I hope that every Christian that comes across this site will pray too

Yes, me too!....and then I hope all of those Christians who "prayed" come back in a month, or year, only to see this site still up and running, and that "prayer" is as useful as bird shit on a door knob.

A: Pray for revival for our nation!

Hope that our nation rids itself of deluded, ignorant, superstitious people!
  • glebealyth · 1 year ago
A: "I'm praying for all of you non-Christians!"

Many thanks, A. I really hope that you get two or more of your xtian friends to pray together with you.
Jesus promised he would do whatever three or more of you agreed upon; and do not forget to ask "in his name", so you can really be sure that it will happen.
Give him a month or two to perform, and then return here to see if he has fulfilled his promises to you. If he has then either we shall all have become believers again or this site will have been reduced to electronic dust, courtesy of his wrath.
I look forward to being able to judge the efficacy of your prayers by results. Don't you?

I'm a Christian teen who's been masturbating since I was 12. Every time I do I feel incredibly guilty. Not because of the actual act of masturbation but because of what it actually took for me to climax. No where in the Bible does it say that touching your penis is wrong but it does say not to lust. Since it's I think it's nigh impossible to masturbate without "lusting" than well... What Can Ya Do??? It would be theologically wrong to say masturbation is wrong. Since I know that I cannot masturbate without lusting I continually fight it. While I may lose a lot, I feel that fighting is better than just giving up!!

    Thanks!
  • Monkeys · 1 year ago
Why dont you pray to God to help you stop lusting?
can it be your God wants you to lust?
Or perhaps he does not exist?

Could it be that you lust and your religion come from the same place - a self-pleasuring fantasy?
  • Tommy · 1 year ago
Masturbation isn't a sin!! Lusting is!! If you can wank off without lusting than good for you;) HAHAHA I know that I can't so what's a guy to do???!?! None for me I guess!
  • WhateverLolaWants · 1 year ago
Oh Tommy, just think those things that get you off, and quit feeling guilty about it. Be a normal teen boy. It's not giving in, it's doing what's best for you. It's better for your mental health to not be continually avoiding this thing that has become the forbidden fruit. Everyone around you will appreciate it- you'll be less uptight, more relaxed and cheerful. Read some of the comments here about how masturbation can improve your life. I particularly like the one about being more respectful to girls, as you aren't always trying to use them for your sexual gratification. (Not saying you do that, but it can help guard against that.) It's called taking ownership of your desires and taking care of them in a responsible way. And it will feel gooooood.

And if you're worried about being good at sex later in life, like most teens, maybe in marriage, well, masturbation will make you better at it. You'll be able to last longer, you'll know what you like and can tell or show your wife, and you won't always bug her when you're horny and she's not in the mood. Frankly, I wouldn't want to get with a guy who didn't masturbate.

Of course, if you're continuing to use religious reasons against lust, well, I can't help you there too much. I used to be a Christian, but I'm not anymore (thankfully), so you probably wouldn't agree with my religious arguments (or lack thereof), and that's fine. But I can say this much- I struggled with some of these issues as a teen trying to be a good Christian- I too thought that masturbating was okay as long as I didn't lust. But where are the boundaries of lust? There's so much gray area. For example, what if I thought about having sex with someone, but didn't even picture the person? Was thinking about an imaginary guy worse than a real one? Was thinking about a guy I knew wrong? Was thinking about a girl worse? Was it wrong just to think about how good it felt to masturbate? Was it wrong to think of something that wasn't blatantly sexual, but I found sexy? What if a thought popped into my head and I didn't mean for it to? And what if it felt so good that I thought about it afterwards when I was in class or something and wanted to do it again- would I be lusting after masturbation? So many legalities on my pleasure!

Eventually I realized it didn't matter and I should just do what made me happy, since it wasn't hurting anyone. And it was great!

Revel in your human-ness, instead of trying to fight it. Don't let life leave you behind while you're struggling with legalities. My two cents, take it for what it's worth.
  • TheAntiChristian · 2 months ago

So who created your personal god then?
[ATF highly suspecting his/her own mind did that]

    A bigger better god perhaps?

Or maybe, just maybe, it was some god-collective instead (like the Borg), that put their great resources together to make your xtian god?

So anytime I do something wrong, it's really the devil making me do it?
If that is true, then why did your god not only create this devil, but then send him down to earth to be amongst us mortals?

As far as where the universe came from:

Christians never fail to demonstrate why Christianity encourages insipid behaviour.

btw - If your answer is God created us - who created your God?
    fair is fair right?

1.)If everything needs to be created.
2.) Then your God needs to be created too.

If you say God does not need to be created - then why not everything.

If you say the meaning of God means that he is not created - then that is not true for many Gods in ancient history were created. As a classification - Gods do not imply being not created,

If you say the Bible is evidence that God is not created - then you make a circular argument.

1.) The Bible says God created everything
2.) The evidence that God created everything is the Bible,

But then anything written down is true if what is written down is evidence for it.

Which makes no sense cause than the Koran would be true as well as harry potter,

Ultimately the TRUTH is - you have not only no EVIDENCE that God created the universe - you dont even have any EVIDENCE he exists at all.

    :)

And thats why the accumalation scientific knowledge in explaining things scares the bejeesus out of you,

You cant even prove he eixsts much less prove he created anything.

Hi, little teenaged boy. Hey, listen, "the Bible" wasn't written by a "God", okay?...and until/unless you can prove that it was, your recommendation amounts to worthless jibber-jabber. ' We good? Okay, great, I'll loosely assume we have an understanding.

FYI, here's some of the arguments that we won't accept as "evidence" for the supposed veracity(the truthfulness) of "the Bible":

    - "The Bible is true because I said so!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because the Bible says so!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because God says so!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because you're stupid if you don't believe it's true!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because Evolution is just a theory!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because my mommy and daddy taught me it was true!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true because you don't have an alternative explanation for our existence that I will accept!!!!"

    - "The Bible is true, because if it were false, that could mean that my whole worldview is a lie, including the promise that I will live forever and ever and ever in the clouds with Jesus, my family, my friends, my pets, and my Wii..... therefore, as I said previously, the Bible is true, true, true!!!!"

Again, we will not accept the above arguments, or any similar variations. Thanks.

*Disclaimer: If you, "Ace" - or any Christian - view my renderings as caricatures, and/or, strawmen....i.e...if you feel I have "distorted"your argument(s) because they are "easier" to refute, then fine, give me the corrected version(s) of why "the Bible" should be accepted as "Truth".

"Ace": I know the Bible wasnt written by God it was written by his apostles which were the men[*EDIT]

    * it's irrelevent what "kind" of "men" they were.

So, if the bible was written by "men", then it wasn't written by "God". Thus, the best you've got to offer is that the bible is man's written interpretation of "God". Say it with me--INTERPRETATION. Add to this prone-to-error fact, that the reader must also interpret the interpretation. This, even on your dumbest day, should be all the evidence that you need, to know that no Perfect, All-knowing Being would use such a haphazard, careless, untrustworthy method for delineating its wishes, especially when the 'stakes' are presumably so high.

"Ace".... you're entitled to your own opinion im just trying to spread the Word

Yes, uh huh. Welp, until/unless you can provide convincing evidence that "the Word" is the "Word" of a "God", then you may as well be spreading cat sh*t on everyone's door handles. And gawd knows, that's not very useful at all.

"Ace" closes with the Christian Cornerstone.. ...if you choose to believe me and get saved then you'll be saved from an eternity in hell

No one's going to "hell"; no one's going to "heaven". Notwithstanding, likewise, you have "a choice" of whether to stay grounded in your superstitious land of delusion, or not.

    May reason find you.

Now and again I've even been known to engage in a little hand- to -gland combat with Willy the one-eyed purple helmet wearing warrior wonder weasel. Jackin' the beanstalk as I doodle my noodle. Now please excuse me while I answer the bone-a-phone.

There was a time, before the discovery of the human female ovum, when it was believed that the male semen carried minuscule human entities, to be implanted into the passive female receptacle. Accordingly, spilling ones semen outside the womb constituted murder of at least one such entity.
Thomas Aquinas considered masturbation a greater sin than anal intercourse or bestiality.
We know better now, but the old prejudices continue. Now LUST is touted as the deity-offending sin.

what i think.as christian young people what else is there to do? its true we all love the lord but at times we must be realistic. if u do nothing about the hormones, it will destroy you after a while. I think it also helps to release pressure, but acknowledging that it is sin, it gives more pressure. i dont know. but, life is that way. so, mayb we should continually go through the blood to obtain forgiveness for our acts, when we fall into this particular sin. CONTINUALLY.

Here's the thing: if you're a Christian (like me) and you think God "hates" you or something cuz you do it, then you need to refresh your mind with the fact that HE LOVES YOU THE WAY YOU ARE!!!!!! Sure, you may feel guilt afterwards, but try your best to measure your CIRCUMSTANCES. Complete substituting yourself OVER a partner, doing it for LUST and not for relief of temptations, emotions, (etc.)......... these are the things you i recommend you go to the Bible for counseling. Yes, the topic of masturbation is rarely mentioned (at all maybe), and the world may say its wrong in general, but the truth is it cleanses you of guilty sexual desires, so you can redirect your mind on better godly things. What God thinks of it - I don't know. But I still do it. Or, you can think of doing it for your health.... Just sayin.

Ace, this is a site for EX-Christians. You are not telling us anything new. We've been there, done that. To us, your precious God and Jesus and Bible are fiction and we have no interest in being "saved".

Please try to understand this: Your religion has caused pain in our lives and we are not going back. Some of us -- Myself included -- would be overjoyed if Christianity simply ceased to exist, because we see it as a deleterious element in human society.

If you don't want to look like any more of a fool, and don't want to be placed in the position of losing your own beliefs, please stop posting here. Among our numbers are scholars and ex-pastors who have read the Bible from cover to cover more than once. Collectively, we have thousands of years of Christian experience. Anything you try to "prove" to us will easily be debunked.

And don't bother telling us how your own life was "changed" by your Magic Sky Fairy... We simply don't care, because we don't know you in real life and you won't be able to convince us that you didn't imagine the whole thing.

Sure one can consider masturbation a natural thing to do. Its just as natural as over eating or complaining. They are natural tendencies that have been instilled in us since we were children.

That doesn't mean its healthy though! Its not as if God gives us more than we can handle. I love my friends who defend masturbation because 'its better than actually doin it!'. In the words of the great preacher Spurgeon "Of the two evils, choose neither".

If we want to do what is ACTUALLY healthy for us, we can by god's power. God's laws are utterly logical and the most correct thing in this universe, we just can't see the big picture so they seem dumb at the time.

Masturbation may be a fun leisurely thing to do whenever your bored. But it is not healthy, its an addictive time waster. And believe me, all the images created by that 'wonderful imagination' stick with you for years afterward by the smallest stimulus.

    Its not what god wants.
  • Stronger_Now · 1 year ago
"That doesn't mean its healthy though!"

Actually studies show that men who masterbate at least five times a week have a lower rate of prostate cancer. So it IS healthier.

"Its not as if God gives us more than we can handle."

Assumeing the premiss. Show the evidence that a god exists, then show how YOU know what it wants before making such a claim.

Also, even if....IF...a god exists he has certainly given some people more than they can handle.

"God's laws are utterly logical and the most correct thing in this universe, we just can't see the big picture so they seem dumb at the time."

No. They seemed dumb at the time and they still seem dumb now. It's most likely due to the fact that some of them are dumb or cruel and stupid...and did I mention they're dumb? And this "god" you speak of...do you have any credible evidence for it's existence?

"Masturbation may be a fun leisurely thing to do whenever your bored. But it is not healthy, its an addictive time waster."

Not really. As most people don't have an addiction to it in the clinical sense and it is healthy and normal. Just because you claim your imaginary friend gets all upset watching us do it doesn't give us any real evidence against it.

    " And believe me..."

No... you seem to be suffering from a strong delusion. Your imaginary friend doesn't exist in objective reality so I don't think it's wise to take advice from someone who doesn't know the difference between fantasy/myth and reality. Seek help post haste!

Besides you being totally off-the-wall in the rest of your post, would you mind explaining what this line is suppose to mean?

I'd sure rather have images from something connected with masturbation floating around in my head "for years afterward", than ANY image/thought of your wacko god clogging up my mind.

    Its not what god wants

Actually, the deep down truth here, is, that it's not what **YOU** want, as god only exists within your own mind.

Why are you xtians so afraid of human sexuality and it's natural outlets?

Many fundies abstain from anything sexual until their bodies force them to take some action, and many times that action is immoral or even illegal.

I'm well confused is onanism right or wrong? I think onanism is an obsession and in the eyes of God as I understand it, obsessions of any kind is not good for my inner soul because it blocks the channel of communication to my God as I understand it. If I let go of all my obsessions truly, I live and love life to the full and I have faith in God that God will gives me what I need in life not what I want or what I obsess about.................... end of....
  • Thackerie · 9 months ago
If by "onanism" you mean masturbation, you're in luck and can give yourself a hand because the bible doesn't say one word about it either way. The sin of Onan was withdrawing his penis from his dead brother's wife during intercourse and "spilling his seed upon the ground" and thereby depriving her of becoming pregnant with a child in the same bloodline as her late husband.

Apparently, it was a custom among the ancient Hebrews at one time to require men whose brothers had died to fertilize the widow (usually after marriage). However, as with most things in the bible, you can find contradictory verses saying that this practice is an "abomination."

Anyway, thinking that the sin of Onan is masturbation is a common fallacy. It is often engaged in by people so simple minded as to think that the all-powerful, all-knowing creator all that is would give a damn about what insignificant human beings, on a little planet in a tiny galaxy among the 125 billion galaxies in the universe, do with their genitalia. The idea is absurd.

Oh, BTW, did you realize that you are posting on a blog almost 7 years old? I doubt that you'll get a response from any of the original participants.
  • AtheistToothFairy · 9 months ago
paul: ...obsessions of any kind is not good for my inner soul because it blocks the channel of communication to my God as I understand it...

    Paul,

Isn't is funny how many xtians believe that anything 'earthly' that distracts one from worshipping god, is wrong.
Could it be that the writers of the bible knew that if one were to gain too much earthly knowledge, that they would quickly realize that the bible was nothing but BS.

Also, if one is distracted by sexual things, then one would give less attention to this bible god and it's earthly churches.

These writers were great con-men, no doubt about that.

Any obsession/addiction when taking to an extreme, is usually bad for us.
That has nothing to do with any gods, just facts.

If you are polishing the one-eyed-monster several times a day, then I'd say you are a bit obsessed and need another hobby.
However, there just is nothing wrong with pleasuring yourself now and then, so don't let the bible fill you with guilt over your OWN body.
Your body belongs to you and only you, not any gods, nor is it a 'temple' for any gods.

But I am working towards that goal of the Holy Spirit guiding me to stop. I trust that eventually I will because sex can become a god if you arent careful. Wow, how dare you guys! You all should be ashamed. Why do you even talk about this stuff? Are you not mature enough to leave it alone? Why can't you guys leave Christians alone? What is it that makes you hellbent on destroying Christianity as we know it? Don't ever try to make fun or criticise something that none of you know anything about. Wait until Judgment Day! You'll see. I can imagine you were great christians earlier, but now you go to hate god? I'm saddened. I really feel for you guys. But honestly, no need to go after us Christians. I mean, what have we done to you?
  • PhucWadGawd · 5 months ago
How dare YOU, Brandon? We do leave you alone; we don't go barging in where you Christians gather to tell you how stupid your beliefs are. You came to an ex-Christian website.

"Don't ever try to make fun or criticise something that none of you know anything about."

If you could get anything through your puny, little, god-befuddled brain, you would know that we understand Christianity very well. You are amongst ex-pastors, preachers, missionaries, Bible study teachers, long-time church-goers, evangelicals, etc. We understand exactly what we reject: Christianity and the gospel.

"Wait until Judgment Day! You'll see."

There is no judgment day, and no one will see -- not even you. You will die like everyone else and your consciousness will end. You will have waited a lifetime for something that never comes, and you will die without knowing. You will go to the grave utterly stupid.

"I can imagine you were great christians earlier, but now you go to hate god?"

How can we hate someone who doesn't exist? You assume that we turned our backs on him. If we thought there was a god to hate/turn our backs on, we'd have a belief in such a being. As such, there is no Bible God to be the object of our supposed "hate".

"But honestly, no need to go after us Christians. I mean, what have we done to you?

Once again, Brandon. We didn't go after you. You came after us; you are intruding on an ex-Christian website. De-conversion is a difficult process. Think about how you would feel to lose your faith and to realize that you've believed a lie for a very long time. You'd be devastated. We're here to support one another, and we -- at least I -- will go after anyone who comes here to make it harder than it already is.
  • Name · 5 months ago
Just felt like chiming in to reinforce what my other brothers/sisters in Christ have said. Yeah, sure, the atheist people will jump right at me, and twist everything I say. However, I know in whom my faith is: and I know the truth. In John 8:32 it says, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

It is quite clear that the act of masturbation is wrong. Again, most of you will argue me to death on this; nonetheless, I will go on. First off the main issue is lust, which it is IMPOSSIBLE to masturbate without. Jesus said if you even look at a woman to lust for her, you have committed adultery already in your heart. Lust just keeps growing and growing as you continue the act, and you want more and more each time. As that is simply not healthy at all, nor is it Godly. And anyone that says they have no lust whatsoever is lying through their teeth.

Secondly, you are partaking in a "sexual act", therefore it is essentially sex. Okay, go ahead, call it whatever you want — self-gratification, pleasuring, whatever. But it's still the same. God designed sex to be enjoyed by a husband and a wife, within a marriage, and to create off-spring; not for such a thing as masturbation.

Sure, masturbation can temporary relieve stress, but in the long run, it does you really no good. In my opinion, it just becomes an addiction (often paired with pornography), and creates an obsessive desire for it.

Lastly, I just want to say that God wants us to honour our bodies, as he lives inside of us (Christians). 1 Corinthians 6:19 says, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? We are not our own, we were bought with a price! Christ died for us, and therefore we present ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable unto him, which is our reasonable service! God wants us to stay pure for our future mate, and honour him with the way we treat our body.

Ultimately, the way to resist the temptation to masturbate is controlling your thoughts. Avoid pictures/web sites that cause you to have lustful thoughts, and maybe even play some music while surfing the internet. Have a plan, and keep your mind busy with other things. Keep close friends around, and spend time with them. As the saying goes, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". This all helps to keep your thoughts on pure things. Philippians 4:8 reads: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Remember, God loves us and wants the best for us. He wants us to live a blessed life on this earth. One thing I want to say is that if you have engaged in the activity being discussed, you can always ask the Lord for forgiveness. The bible says he is faithful and just to forgive us, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thanks for hearing me out. Hopefully some people will get something from this.

    God bless.

No, Name, masturbation is awesome. In fact, I'm doing it right now. Good thing I can type really fast with one free hand. Also, I'm hot and sexy. Can you picture it? Are you lusting now, Name? I hope you're getting something out of this.

Thanks for the Bible verses. I've read them all before. They're quite stupid. Go ahead and save yourself for The One. Your virginity is like a new car, but the longer it sits on the lot, the less likely it is anyone will want it -- especially if it's decades past its "sell by" date.

    Cheers!
  • cipher · 5 months ago
Name, you've allowed them to sell you a bill of goods. It's a normal, healthy part of being human. Even some of the "big names" from your own camp - such as Dr. Dobson - no longer think masturbation is a big deal.

Something isn't true just because your pastor says it is.
  • B · 5 months ago
Alright, question. I know it's a little off topic, but as Name said:

"God designed sex to be enjoyed by a husband and a wife, within a marriage, and to create off-spring; not for such a thing as masturbation."

So.. if two Christians within the boundaries of marriage have sex with a condom, is that considered "spilling the seed" as Onan did and therefore a 'sin'? They obviously aren't having sex to create offspring if they are using a condom, likewise ANY form of birth control.

But back to masturbation here, what if a husband and wife within the boundaries of marriage mutually masturbate in the presence of one another? What if a woman stimulates herself while being penetrated by her husband? What if a man is having erection problems during sex and stimulates himself to regain his erection?

There's just so many things that are not answered in the Bible, not to mention almost everything in the Bible can be interpreted differently by different people. The argument that it is wrong "because the Bible says so" is null. We have to remember that the Bible was written by PEOPLE, and also that the Bible has gone through so many translations over the years (again by people) that there is no way to tell if the Bible has stayed true to what it originally was (not to mention the differences in language throughout the years, try reading a book from 100+ years ago and see if you understand it without using footnotes). Sorry but I don't trust the advice of people over thousands of years to tell me how to live my life. I think all one has to do is look back into the Church throughout the ages to see the corruption.. obviously it would be silly to think that the corruption hasn't spread to the Bible as well.
  • AtheistToothFairy · 5 months ago
    "B",

If you would just realize that there is no god spying on you, then maybe you could start to heal-thyself of these sexual guilt feelings that plaque you.

If god were real and he didn't want any man to "spill their seed outside of procreation", then he wouldn't have designed our bodies so that this function could work, for just fun purposes alone.

You'll feel so free, so much better, once you realize the bible god is imaginary.

As far as women masturbating goes......
It's always a sin for a woman to enjoy sex, especially if her enjoyment is not directly caused by a 'man'.
If you believe this, then I'm afraid no one here can help you !

Name: "It is quite clear that the act of masturbation is wrong."

You're quite wrong about that, Name. Masturbation is a natural part of sexuality.

"First off the main issue is lust, which it is IMPOSSIBLE to masturbate without."

Wrong about that too, name. It is possible to masturbate without lust, and furthermore, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with lust itself. It only becomes a problem if acting upon that lust causes harm to yourself or another person.

    "Jesus said..."

And why should we care about your imaginary friend and its fictional opinions?

"God designed sex to be enjoyed by a husband and a wife, within a marriage, and to create off-spring; not for such a thing as masturbation."

False. Your god is unproven, and until you provide evidence that it actually exists, it's safe to say that it didn't "design" anything.

I have no comment on the masturbation thing though. I believe it is wrong...maybe not masturbation itself, but lust is. And masturbation is lust in itself. I do apologize for being harsh, but there is no reason at all to put nude pictures and actually moving pictures of a man masturbating. This should be a "Christian" blog, not a "porn" blog. Well, here it is again. The typical Xian horror at anything involving human
    sexuality.

What if a 13-year-old boy came to this site, and had never seen a woman in that way? Well damn it lady, he's 13. Don't you think its
    about time he did?

Yes, I know, sex is evil and sex is dirty because a bunch of superstitious,
ignorant Mideast tribesman said so several thousand years ago.

Remember what Masters and Johnson said about men and masturbation?
Ninety percent will admit to it, and the other ten percent are liars!

Please go back to your nice, clean Xian Disneyland and stay there. You
and reality don't seem to get along too well.

In reply to this article: http://www.domini.org/centerweb/mastb.html

I wrote a big reply to this and was annoyed. I read yours and feel better.

STill there comments system didnt work so I thought id paste my thoughts about wanking and god below:

    -----------------------

    http://www.domini.org/centerweb/mastb.html

Its things like this that show the ludicrous idea of god. So this means no one in the world is meant to wank? You do realise it released chemicals in the brain of men, which has a calming effect? So a lot of men would be rather bad tempered. But the biggest problem is if you cannot wank over anyone youre not married to then you never wank then? Ever? Its nothing to do with self control its about instinct, instinct to mate. You ask to go against your very nature, and if going against nature is right then how can this be? How does that make any sense with god, if he is nature. It doesn't. It shows that most people who believe in god never really listen or dare listen to facts. They have a cloud in their head to mask the reality of life.

You might also realise that through masterbation man relieves himself. In case you havent noticed a lot of men go to hookers. So if every single man stopped wanking what do you think would happen? If anything, wanking is a great idea it might just stop people getting too lustful, ie rapists and people going to hookers and regretting it.

The fact is nature asks us constantly to reproduce. You say go against your very essence, your fundemental aspects of being a human. God or otherwise it makes no sense on any level. The only level it makes sense on is people not in reality, and those people believe in god as you know it in the bible.

You should promote wanking, imagine if no one did. The world would be worse. You know what would be better? No desire to have sex. Although that would mean the end of the human race. So by your terms if no one fell in love, thats the end of humanity. How many flaws does your book need to remove your masked mind.

    Good luck. Believe in good.

I am a Christian but if masturbation is a sin well than I guess i'm going to hell, where do these misguided bible spewing morons come from anyways...they make the entire religion look like retarded cult followers.

My main problem is that no one will think for themselves...use reason, masturbation does not harm anyone, in fact it is PLEASURABLE, so God hates harmless fun? In fact masturbation lessens my daily lust because I'm not so stupidly repressed, without it I probably would have given up the religion got onto drugs and would be having mindless rabbit like sex right now.

Which sounds kinda fun, but hey thats where my Christianity butts in and says 'thats wrong', besides it was entirely possible that Mary wasn't a virgin, the world wasn't made in seven days and well people who take the bible too literally deserve a smack in the face. Do you know why? People are making arguements for INCORRECT TRANSLATIONS.

    Try this on for size,

The hebrew word for the creation does not translate correctly into what we use now in the bible the closest it would be in hebrew would be 'seven periods of time' not days, suck it. Ever notice the creation story follows the path of evolution, try Darwin and mix in the religion and thousands of years and hey ho we have a scientifically viable creation.

The word for mary was not in fact maiden, which implies virginity, but maid which could have just been the word for girl. And I mean she was pretty young so hell the whole Catholic following should be cringing right now.

But I digress, my point is masturbation is not even mentioned, if Christians screw up the information we already have, I'm sorry if I would rather make my own moral decisions I guess i'm just crazy that way.

Another point is that I'm a girl, I don't think females are mentioned but then again neither are lesbians, maybe we do win from thousands of years of sexism! And gosh I am do anti-christian right now, I do love my God, by a majority of his followers need a reality check, you are essentially following a school of thought that belongs in infant school. Monkey say monkey do.

Don't patronise the non-believers on this site, they have a right to their own opinion, I think God would rather people think for themselves that follow blindly, hello free will anybody! In fact I find all their arguments more reasoned and believable, maybe I am a bad Christian, but I suppose that is for God to decide.

I used to feel guilty and still do sometimes, but hey I'm going with Freud, society and my parents have well screwed me over (figuratively).

Peace out, have fun and carry on holding up your side of the arguement whatever that may be!
  • peter · 3 months ago
"My main problem is that no one will think for themselves...use reason,[...]"
That is indeed the main problem. Once people would start to think for themselves and be honest with themselves as to why they (want to) believe, there would be a lot less christians.

"But I digress, my point is masturbation is not even mentioned, if Christians screw up the information we already have, I'm sorry if I would rather make my own moral decisions I guess i'm just crazy that way."

Your bible disagrees; I'm not talking of that silly story of Onan, how that can be interpreted to be dealing with masturbation is beyond me. It deals with an entirely different topic, having intercourse with a woman without wanting her to become pregnant. But based on other things in biblebook, it can be argued that masturbation is 'of the flesh', as opposed to 'of the spirit'. Anything that's of the flesh is of satan. Also, masturbation is closely related to lust and satisfying lust. Lust was one the major sins, last time I read the bible.

Don't get me wrong, I see nothing wrong with masturbation myself. But from a christian point of view, it can clearly be argued to be a no-no, using bible examples.

"Don't patronise the non-believers on this site, they have a right to their own opinion,"

Err... somehow I think you haven't fully grasped the essence of this site. There are no christians here, apart from a few trolls (and probably a whole bunch of christians who quietly read in the background, trying to answer their own questions about their religion, or still sitting on the fence or even afraid of coming out of the closet).

But it's good to know you think we're entitled to our own opinions too. I suppose some of your fellow religious people wouldn't even allow that, if it was within their control.

"God would rather people think for themselves that follow blindly"
You may want to read up a bit on your bible; Adam and Eve had a different experience. So did Jonah. Or Abraham, as he blindly obeyed biblegod and prepared for slitting his son's throat.

You sound smart enough - I strongly recommend reading the bible, cover-to-cover, and draw your own conclusions. Your parents or minister can't be opposed to you studying the bible, can they? Soon you'll find you'll know a lot more about their religion and holy book than themselves. I'm an atheist who has read the bible cover-to-cover 3 times; I'm not a christian, but I think I know more about what it says in the bible than the vast majority of christians who only know about the feel-good, happy parts that were dealt with in sunday school or mass.

So, try reading the bible in its entirety - if you're a decent human being you'll be shocked by what you will find there, you'll see that the topics that get dealt with in sunday-morning mass are a tiny selection of the content of that book. A few things: unbelievers should be killed; disobedient children should be killed; homosexuals should be killed. Children are being brutally murdered (innocent babies having their heads dashed in against rocks and trees), women are raped and taken into slavery, etc.etc. All *ordered* by god, not just condoned.

    Happy reading...

    Peter.

The thing is though I have many problems with the bible, it was written by humans and while by definition to Christians 'the word of God' there are just so many issues that seem to be misunderstood or indeed created, even things mentioned explictly.

' "Don't patronise the non-believers on this site, they have a right to their own opinion," Err... somehow I think you haven't fully grasped the essence of this site. There are no christians here, apart from a few trolls (and probably a whole bunch of christians who quietly read in the background, trying to answer their own questions about their religion, or still sitting on the fence or even afraid of coming out of the closet). '

Yeah that made me sound a little slow, its simple an old issue with me, I spent time on my Churches naughty list for failing to convert a friend and not pushing her too hard. They felt that her beliefs as a wiccan were not as important as theirs, another issue I have with Christianity, she many be defined as a witch but I have met Christians who are much worse people.

The thing is I simply believe in God, irrational and childish maybe, I have thought of million psychological reasons but the belief is still there.

There are alot of power struggles in my church and it remains superficial, my other choice is a group of people who simply question nothing, it is why I am on this site. I feel my beliefs must be challenged, I must consider all possible understandings and beliefs before I can make a rational decision.

As for studying the bible, I am currently taking Philosophy and Ethics, I can see all schools of belief and study in a class of athiests it is refreshing to talk about the bible and interpretations of a God/s in other religions.

'So, try reading the bible in its entirety - if you're a decent human being you'll be shocked by what you will find there, you'll see that the topics that get dealt with in sunday-morning mass are a tiny selection of the content of that book. Children are being brutally murdered (innocent babies having their heads dashed in against rocks and trees), women are raped and taken into slavery, etc.etc. All *ordered* by god, not just condoned.'

Hence why I have so many issues with other people of my faith, I am considered 'liberal'...try reasonable. However as I mentioned I look at all sides of the story, I know you would probably not appreciate it from me but I commend you for searching into the bible. You have an understanding deeper than most Christians and therefore deserve more respect.

'"God would rather people think for themselves that follow blindly" You may want to read up a bit on your bible; Adam and Eve had a different experience. So did Jonah. Or Abraham, as he blindly obeyed biblegod and prepared for slitting his son's throat.'

This also make me seems ignorant, I am merely wishfully speaking but hey I would rather go to hell anyway that follow the God often shown.

    Hey, Louisa,

I have to echo Peter, "I think you will enjoy this site."

It can be a bearpit at times and we don't actually take many prisoners, but this site is inhabited by the loveliest, cleverest and most knowledgeable people it has ever been my privilege to meet.

Ask your questions and air your doubts/difficulties. There will always be someone who understands or knows the answer to a technical questions.

Welcome, and prepare for a roler-coaster ride you will never forget.

    Peace,

    David

Thank you, it is nice to be responded to intelligently, instead of the usual cliches. And it is good to be anonymous so the difficult questions are more easy to ask.

Plus I also find atheists easier to talk to...they make more sense with actual reason!

I don't think I will ever give up my faith, but to challenge it and to know more is to prevent myself from growing stagnant, for me to be content is to understand others and why they believe what they do.

The thing is I simply believe in God, irrational and childish maybe, I have thought of million psychological reasons but the belief is still there.

I believe there could be some sort of ultimate reality (an unknowable mystery) and I also believe that there is some sort of afterlife. I just do NOT believe in a personal christian god nor the loony christian doctrines that are based on someones interpretation of spurious scripture. What I completely abhor though, is religionist using the supposed voice of god -- as their own -- to push polluted agendas.

If a "god" exists, our understanding or definition of god would be wholly inferior. A god (an ultimate reality) shouldn't have all the faults of humanity; IT should be far above us at least in equaling the magnitude of the universe. IF there is a god -- IT would have to transcend all thought; IT would have to be something that we can't even begin to imagine, let alone giving IT inept human attributes. Which is I humbly submit, If god exists, I do NOT know god; god is unknowable and christians sure as shit don't know god either!

    --S.
  • louisamay · 3 months ago
There are some days when I take this view myself, there are some days when I see God as the unmoved mover and that is it. But overall I spend most of my time Christian, but I am the minimum, I believe in God and that Jesus was his son (and obviously follow the 10 commandments but that is a general human thing on the whole). If I must follow more than that then I guess I am not a Christian.

'If god exists, I do NOT know god; god is unknowable and christians sure as shit don't know god either!' I agree, another problem I have with Christianity a majority of the time what you are being asked to accept comes from humans, but I will not let this annoyance prevent me from following what I believe. I will go to church and perhaps scoff at some of the thoughts but it is a way in which I try to understand my own beliefs and to dissect what not to follow.

Oh -- then you do NOT believe the son of god was resurrected and is the savior of mankind?

And BTW how do you know Jesus was the son of god? How do you know Jesus even existed? How can you trust ANYTHING from the bible? How are you so certain in the things you believe?

(and obviously follow the 10 commandments but that is a general human thing on the whole).

Really? You never said god damn it? Have you misused god's name at anytime?

    You NEVER lie?

You never disobeyed your mother and father like every normal child has done?

You never stole something in your entire life? something little maybe?

You never missed a day in your life going to church (the sabbath)? Do you ONLY rest on the sabbath?

Do you wear a cross or do you have a cross hanging at your house or is their a sculpture depicting the crucifixion at your church -- You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth...

...another problem I have with Christianity a majority of the time what you are being asked to accept comes from humans, but I will not let this annoyance prevent me from following what I believe.

    A majority?

Uh -- no, that would be 100% of the time, what you are being asked to accept comes from humans.

Yes I believe that, I was just shortening down what I saying, it was no the point I was trying to make.

Why do you believe in science (I am assuming you do)? Molecular science is no more tangible.

I have done those things but I do believe in repentance, no matter how much you may dislike that.

Again, '100% of the time, what you are being asked to accept comes from humans.' it is why it is called belief, that at least the smallest percent comes from something more, you may find me wrong but it is simply what I feel.

  • TheAntiChristian · 2 months ago
    Darightladforyou,
Okay, I'm back. I can tell you from first-hand experience that there is nothing wrong with masturbation. I mean, how could it be wrong if it fits in the hand just like a banana?

You're in a sticky situation, and I think you need to get a firm grip on the issue at hand. Stop vacillating and tell your wanker Christian friends to quit being such jerks. Tell them to stop manhandling your mojo and that you can handle your own problems in the privacy of your own bedroom. Oh, yes, keep a box of tissues handy.

I know it'll be hard to get over this problem ... hard, hard, hard!!! But keep it up, and you'll come out on top.

Okay, so much for now. I'm going to wash my hands.

    Friend,

    Answer 1:

    No, masturbation is NOT wrong.
    There is no god.

    Answer 2:

Masturbation is not wrong, but the priestly class found it useful to condemn it to ensure their power and income.
Any god that does not forgive you for doing what comes naturally in the body he gave you deserves to be slowly castrated with a very blunt spoon.

Somewhere between those extremes lies the position you are in. You must decide which one you prefer and move toward.

Don't ask this one of celibate priests, as they are too guilty of it to be rational about it.
Don't ask the married priests, they need your money and are biased.
Don't ask god, as his favourite language is silence.

Make up your mind whether punishment for masturbation would be just.

My own take is that to create you with sexual urges and provide you with a personal means of release and condemn you when you use it speaks either of a vindictive, vicious, men-spirited, hateful god or of a god who just does not exist.

You must decide, but you must not feel bad for being human. The only person who has problems with that is god, it would seem.

    Peace,

David (who has been, and been called, a wanker in his time.)

    Sorry Nick,

You have to prove there is a god BEFORE you can ask anyone to beg forgiveness from him.

Further, you have to prove that the god you are talking about is better than the genocidal, murderous, deranged, guilt-tripping god described in the buybull.

If yo can do neither of these and you still stand by your comments then you are a troll who must get down on his knees and beg forgiveness of the webmaster for your blatant sin of abusing his creation, this website.

Dave is, I suspect, quite a forgiving webmaster and, as long as you promise to try not to commit the sin again, will probably let you stay. If you do not make the promise then you might find yourself cast out into the fiery pits of xian belief.

You have to talk to these fundies like they're three year olds. Try to stick to one and two syllable words.

Also, avoid complex sentences, as they forget what the first clause said by the time they finish the second.

One thing I found fascinating is that during the Victorian era, women who felt a lot of pent-up sexual urges were diagnosed with a condition called Hysteria. These women would seek medical attention from a doctor, who would massage her clitoris until she experience a release known as a "paroxysm" (really, an orgasm). It just blows my mind that doctors would masturbate women under the guise of medical treatment just to avoid the notion that they were somehow "sinning". They had to know what was really going on, didn't they?
  • Thackerie · 2 months ago
Yes, I saw something about that on the History Channel. Those doctors became very popular and acquired more patients than they could handle (literally), so to avoid straining their hands, an electrical apparatus was invented for the task in the late 1800s — the predecessor of modern vibrators. Of course, at the time, it was referred to as a medical device and if anyone thought of it in sexual terms, shame on them!
  • mcgill101 · 1 month ago
To the Christians on here, who feel they need to remain Christian, read James Dobson, he is a psychologist that is also a Christian and he says that its okay to masturbate, just try not to break Matthew 5:28. Maybe a contradiction in terms but it is better than nothing to at least try
To the same. you belive that Christianity is true right, ever heard of armenism, it is a interpretation of what people call predestination. IT is where people can lose there salvation
So whos right, and also here is how to become a ex-christian, stop beliving. Kept in the fold via the holy spirit right. How many people here when they were christians belived that they have had encounters with the holy spirit. Not a good way to keep people in the fold. Maybe the Holy Spirit could actually do what it was said to do in John about being a guide and whatnot. there would defintily be less de-converts. There would be less people finding fault in the christian concept of free will and the "arm twisting relationship" with Christ. Hell or relationship, how is that a relationship. I am a firm beliver in it works for ya fine. But you don't have a right to tell me how to think and feel.
Relgion and sexual repression and ignorance can be synonyms for each other
also have you ever christians done any study into the life of christians as a whole group like a country
My study has told me the following
There is a two-four percent higher chance of divorce amoung christian then atheists and agnostic (probably got something to do with how "God" wants marraige to be)
I personall can vouch for my Christian family in regards to this, everybody in my immediate family except one man has been divorced. that one man has a dead marriage in a every since. Yet divorce is a sin unless the cause is infidelity
I can't remeber the numbers this one but
Evangelical Christian raised children have a way larger chance of getting Std's or getting pregnant. That is probably do to the intense indoctrination against such things, (people are naturelly attracted to things they can't have)
The subjection of women in marriage has probably also got something to do with that divorce rate
Like I always say take away God from the morailty of the bible you get immorality or at elast morality that worked for people that wiped there asses with leaves. That alone is cause for question in my opinion.
    You decide
I haven't really thought about this one much but I recently just read that there is actually been a study done that found that the more religious someone is the less there IQ is.
I am inclined to belive that to be true, because the most unquestioning, and oftentimes(though it is not exactly any fault of them) are ingnorant to science and history. One my not be able to disprove the resurrection(which being historically provable is a debate in its own right, much less debate on if it has been proven by history in general) but there are many other details like the exodus story which do cast a shadow over the creidibilty of the bible. Gary HAbermas once said that even if the whole bible is false the ressurrection is history proven
I doubt that because of the simply fact that if important detail that are not the resurrection are untrue then it takes the piss out of the gospels because of the claims of Jesus. It also takes the piss out of the doctrine of innerrancy. Which if not true leaves every single sentence up to dispute.

On the masturbation subject itself, I am awfully suprised how much most christians are willing to take the golden goose and cut of its head
Here is a good way to prevent teenage sex, give them a option to be able to relive desire, without the need for someone else. You get no stds, no pregancies. Yet they say masturbation is a sin, and sex before marriage is a sin
My question is "Really what do you want me to do?"
To me it is insane to say "okay, you have all these sexual desires, that are not bad, but you can't act on them" One it is a contradiction in terms, two how the hell are people supposed to deal with things like that.
I think Christians of all stripe would be better of regardless if they are religious or not if they got there heads out of there ass,and thought maybe instead of asking how to live, asking why to live. Why is it that religion flys in the face of psychology, and the massive accumaltion of knowledge in regards to sexual health. And instead of settling for the answer the bible says so and leaving it at that. Ask why does the bible say that. Maybe its based in culture. I have found that in the study of ancient culture that diffusion(the nice pretty anthroplogical terms for the introduction of new conpets) doesn't work so well if the culture be exposed is happy with what they got, or the concepts just don't work for them and what they understand. It is one of the reasons that Christians got converts the ethics and moriality described in the bible fit the time. For example, here is why the bible doesn't say anything directly about masturbation. everybody and the mother was married at the earliest around 12 to 14, so by the time that puberty kicked in the guys and girls could get as much action as they could. Mastuburation was a silly point to address. Also it is better to marry then burn with sexual desire. Well the same applies, they could easlily and most often did get married aroudn 12-14, so marriage wasn't a outthere option for them unlike youth today. Also marriage was typically a thing of convenience, because often expecially amoung the rich it dealt with property.
It just two of the many example of ethics of the bible that don't work unless we all decide to start wiping are asses with leaves. It is kindoff odd for a allknowing God to use that kind of planning. to endorse ethics that are culturally and temporally easy to follow yet can't be done nowadays

    mcgill101,
I so wanted to read what you wrote, but my eyes can't handle reading "walls of text" anymore.

You may want to consider sparing our eyeballs in your next post, okay?

McGill101: "Why is it that religion flies in the face of psychology, and the massive accumulation of knowledge in regards to sexual health?"

Because sex is in direct competition with virtually all religions. It's more difficult to control people if you can't hook into their emotions and their sex drives.

    "Is masturbation wrong?"

Only if you're a religious wanker.
